Try Soffit and Fascia Colors on a Photo of Your House
Upload a photo of your house and see the fascia, soffit and gutters in matte black, dark chocolate brown or deep navy, against your own siding, windows and door, before you order paint.
Free account required. New accounts get 2 free renders (watermarked) in most countries, then paid plans.
Soffit and Fascia Colors Before and After
AI-generated sample edits of a sample house. The camera angle and light stay the same and the trim color changes. Each caption names anything else that changed. A render shows a color idea, not real paint on your house, and paint looks different in full sun and in shade.

AfterHow to Preview Soffit and Fascia Colors on Your House
- Take a straight-on photo. Stand across the street or at the end of the driveway so the roof edge, the fascia, the soffit under the eave, the gutters and one gable are all in view. Shoot in even light, not harsh midday sun.
- Open the paint tool in Custom mode. Upload the photo and describe the change in one sentence: “Paint only the fascia, soffit, gutters and gable trim matte black. Keep the siding, windows, door, shingles and lawn exactly the same.” Naming what to keep is the key step.
- Compare the options and then check the real trim. Render two or three colors, such as black, dark brown and navy, and compare them with your siding and roof. Then paint a sample board and hold it against the siding in morning and evening light.
This page is about the roofline trim. For the main walls, see the exterior paint color visualizer, and for window and door trim, the trim paint color visualizer.
Soffit and Fascia Colors to Try
Matte black
Matte black on the fascia, soffit and gutters is a sharp, modern line against white siding. In our example, the white siding, windows and door were kept, and only the trim changed.
Dark chocolate brown
Rollex’s article describes dark brown fascia and soffit as a color that bridges the roof and the walls. In our example, the beige siding and porch posts were kept, and the brown trim sat well beside them.
Deep navy
In our example, the deep navy fascia, soffit and gutters sat against blue-gray siding and white window trim, and the siding was kept as it was.
Before You Paint the Fascia and Soffit
- Check the material first. Rollex’s article says aluminum soffit comes factory-painted, while wood must be painted. Your product guidance decides what you can repaint.
- Pair the trim with the siding and roof. Brick & Batten shows pairing examples and advises testing samples before you commit, so compare the trim beside your actual siding and roof.
- Check the color in both sun and shade. Light changes how a dark or bright trim reads, so look at a sample through the day. This is our advice, not a rule from either source.
- Keep the gutters in mind. In our examples the gutters were painted with the fascia, which makes the roof edge read as one band.
- Remember the render is an AI edit and not a substitute for a paint sample. Compare the render with your real house before you buy paint.
Trim and soffit advice here is drawn from Rollex (April 6, 2022) and Brick & Batten (Cassie McDowell, May 30, 2023), both of which we opened directly. Both are businesses that sell related products or services, so weigh their advice accordingly. The pairings and named colors are the sources’ own examples, not ours. This is general guidance, not a rule for your house.
Soffit and Fascia Colors FAQ
Is the exterior paint color visualizer free?+
You need a free account to generate. New accounts in most countries get enough free credits for up to 2 renders, and free renders carry a small watermark. After that, paid plans on the pricing page give you more renders without the watermark.
Do I need to sign up?+
Yes. Rendering requires an account so your credits and results can be saved. You can sign in with Google or a one-time code sent to your email.
What is the difference between fascia and soffit?+
The fascia is the board along the lower edge of the roof, where the gutters usually attach. The soffit is the underside of the roof overhang that runs between the fascia and the wall. Rollex’s article on aluminum soffit colors describes the dark brown fascia and soffit that bridge the roof and the walls, so the two are discussed together.
Will the tool change my siding and windows too?+
Only if you ask it to. Name the siding, windows, door, shingles and any trim you want to keep. In our three examples the siding, windows, doors and roof stayed the same, but the render is an AI edit, so compare it with your real house before you order paint.
Can I paint aluminum or vinyl soffit and fascia?+
Rollex’s article says aluminum soffit comes factory-painted, while wood soffit and fascia must be painted. Check your product’s own paint guidance before you paint, because some finishes are not meant to be repainted. This page does not give product instructions.
Should I order samples before I choose a dark trim?+
Yes. Brick & Batten advises using samples. Paint a sample on a board, then look at it in morning and evening light, next to your siding and roof.
